Furniture Care

Your teak furniture will appear newly polished when first assembled due to naturally occurring oils in the wood. Though the oil on the surface will begin to evaporate after a few days outdoors - it’s the oil below the surface that gives teak its durability. So durable in fact that teak furniture requires little, if any, maintenance and can be left outdoors year-round to weather naturally. While the rate of weathering varies depending on climate, moisture and exposure to sun (the weathering process will occur faster in moist climates and slower in dry climates), your furniture will eventually acquire a beautiful silver-grey patina as the surface pigments begin to fade. During the weathering process you may notice “checking” or small cracks that appear in the wood. This is perfectly natural, as wood expands and contracts slightly when left outdoors. Checking is cosmetic only and in no way affects the structural integrity of the furniture. A lifting of the grain may occur on the top edges of the arms and legs as well, but will return to its original smooth finish after the initial weathering process. To aid this process, simply clean the furniture with a soft bristle brush or sponge as indicated below. Water spots or other discoloration may also occur during the weathering process, but these will even out with time.

Despite its durability, stainless steel furniture requires regular maintenance to keep it looking like new and we recommend cleaning your stainless steel furniture periodically.

Although stainless steel is generally resistant to corrosion, the surface is susceptible to cosmetic deterioration by the effects of salt water, salt air, chlorine from pool water, and air-borne chemicals and we do not recommend using this furniture if you are within 10 miles of the ocean. These spots in no way affect the strength, integrity or longevity of the furniture; they are simply superficial discolorations that require cleaning to restore the stainless steel to its original appearance.

To further inhibit corrosion and retard the effects of weather and oxidation, we recommend using Stainless Steel anti-corrosion treatment at least once a year.

Our woven wicker furniture is made from the finest quality man made wicker. This remarkable material has many benefits, including a natural appearance, tear resistance, UV resistance, and weather resistance. Our wicker is also environmentally friendly and is made only from recyclable non-toxic products.
Woven furniture can be left outside all year round and is able to withstand temperatures from -2*F – 131*F. When very cold, the weave will become stiffer than normal and when very hot, the weave will become more elastic. However, it will always revert to its normal elasticity once the ambient temperature stabilizes.
